A LONG FUN FILLED WEEKEND for...Babcia Daniella

I will be having a long weekend this weekend, from Friday February 29, till March 3. I will be taking my grandkids to see Beauty and The Beast at a local High School Play on Friday evening. They are off of school on Friday, it will be a Teachers Institute Day. Then on Saturday we will be going to the Polish Museum to spend the day. On Sunday probably breakfast with some or all of them. On Monday Ela, Julia & Stevie will be off of school celebrating General Kazimierz Pulaski Day. (Do you know the History about him?) Also joining us for the will be Karen and Maddie, Stevie & Lily, we will be going to the Kohls Childrens Museum on Monday.

If the weather will be nice on Sunday I am sure Stefan will be going motorcycle riding with his buddies for the day, of course they will be still all bundled up, not so warm yet, but the sun is sure to come out for the day.

A LOOOOONG WEEKEND for...

Leap Year Birthday on 2-29-08 Mikey G.

Happy Birthday to "our" Mikey. Sto Lat to you. Have a real Birthday DAY . So this makes you how old now????? Are you legal yet in leap years? If you were legal in leap year days you should be 84 years old today ,... RIGHT? But I know you are legal in regular years, plus some more years on top of those years.

Start of week with SNOW Feb 24, 2008

Yes it is Monday evening and it is snowing here. They are predicting 6-9 inches of snow, as of now I think we have at least 3 inches so far by 9PM. Not looking forward to seeing more in the morning. I am tired of shoveling already and using the snowblower. I think I need a vacation. How about you? Want to get away fromthis cold? Or are you reading this in a sunny warm climate?

Just wondering who got hit with the FLU BUG? In my immediate family I know that it was Suzia, and her son Stevie. Then on the other side Steve and his kids Maddie, Stevie & Lily got hit with the BUG. Stefan had the sniffles a week ago, but no flu-like symptoms. Karen and myself have dodged the bug for now. I hope we do not get it. My neighbor Pete also got hit. So tell me who got it this week?

Happy 2nd Birthday Laith 2-23-08

Happy 2nd Birthday to Laith in Minnesota. STO LAT to you. Hello from us here all.

Hawaii for 2 weeks. 2-23-08

Karens' parents are going to Hawaii for 2 weeks. They leave on Saturday morning. So Maddie, Stevie and Lily will be mine all mine for 2 weeks. I will not have to share them with the other grandparents. Does that sound mean? Nah, just a lot of fun for me and Stefan.

Babcia Hela's Party

Well what I had planned on doing and what actually did happen .... are 2 different things. You can not say who will be healthy and who will be sick....

On the thursday of Babcia Hela's Birthday, I was babysitting my usual Thursday at Steve and Karens house. But all 3 children and my son Steve were sick with the FLU. Needless to say that as Suzia's house Stevie was also hit with the flu bug. Suzia had it on Valentines day. Koy had the tickle in his throat. The girls Ela and Julia missed the "bug" boat.

Karen did not get the flu either. SOOOOOOO that meant that on Thursday the plan was to have Babcia Hela at my house with her granchildren. We, meaning Stefan, Daniella, Diane, Bruno and Bogdan spent the evening with mom and mother in law only. We had a delicous pizza and then a cake from Bakers Square. So STO LAT MAMA from us all.

Presidents Day celebration

On Monday Feb 18, I had the day to myself with my 6 grandchildren. Well actually I spent it with them and also my daughter in law, Karen. In the morning we spend some time at her house with the children playing with the Geotrack train sets and then had lunch together.

In the afternoon we went to "The big Gym". The gym room is in the association house of their townhome. We went there last year and we had a ball. Literally we must have had 15 balls flying in the air at any given time. There were basketballs, soccerballs, tennisballs, well you get the idea. We had barrel races, (or was that called frog races??)and then the kids were driven around in the barrels, ok it was a large garbage can that held all the balls that we used.

It got pretty warm in there so the kids changed into their shorts and tank tops. Outside the temp was so cold that I had to warm up the van for 10 minutes before driving up to the gym.

All in all I had a great day together with all the grandkids and Karen.

Did you see LUNAR ECLIPSE???

It is Wednesday evening in the Chicago area, and YES I am watching, on and off the Lunar Eclipse. As of right now, I do not see that much of a blockage of the moon. But I will be watching very intently. (Ha Ha) Don't I have anything else to do more important????

Reprint from the news section about ECLIPSES, thought you might find interesting.

Wednesday's event will be the last total lunar eclipse until Dec. 20, 2010. Last year there were two.
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the full moon passes into Earth's shadow and is blocked from the sun's rays that normally illuminate it. During an eclipse, the sun, Earth and moon line up, leaving a darkened moon visible to observers on the night side of the planet.

The moon does not go black because indirect sunlight still reaches it after passing through the Earth's atmosphere. Since the atmosphere filters out blue light, the indirect light that reaches the moon transforms it into a reddish or orange tinge, depending on how much dust and cloud cover are in the atmosphere at the time.

Such an event was seen on Aug. 28, 2007, during which moon's surface darkened as the earth's shadow moved across it to create a partial eclipse and then total eclipse.

Unlike solar eclipses which require protective eyewear, lunar eclipses are safe to view with the naked eye.

Later this year, in August, there will be a total solar eclipse and a partial lunar eclipse.

RESULTS Re:Stefan's Bone Biopsy Feb 19, 2008

On Tuesday Stefan had his bone biopsy done in the morning. I went with him to the hospital for the procedure. I received the results on Wednesday afternoon. They are all good, his WBC white blood count as of Tuesday was 7.3 range between 3.5 and 10.5, his RBC red blood count was 3.84 range of 4.20 and 5.80,his platelets are at 129. Range 140 to 390......Yahooooo. Finally way up over 100, he was around 100, 102, 103 for the longest time. The next scheduled appointment should be in 3 months, but Dr. Olga said we could possible move it to 6 months. That would make the next appointment at the end of August. So for now, Thanks for checking in and saying those prayers for him. I know they do not go unanswered by you know WHOM..... Take care of yourself and stay healthy. That is the most precious gift that you can have for yourself.

BELIEVING IN OURSELVES

THESE ARE SOME SAYINGS I CAME ACROSS AND LIKED VERY MUCH:

There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in a storm.

Happiness is not something you GET, but something you DO.

A good laugh is as good as a prayer sometimes.

To be content with little is hard, to be content with much, impossible.

Any road is bound to arrive somewhere if you follow it far enough.

Be grateful for the home you HAVE, knowing that at this moment, all you have is all you NEED.

NOTE: This should hold you in the thinking mode for awhile.

Miss Vicky Sto Lat to you 2-18-08

Happy Birthday Vicky B. Have a fun filled day today. STO LAT.

Are you "Flying the flag" FEB 18, 2008?

VALENTINE Celebration

I took Maddie to pre-school on her regular Thursday. They had a Valentines Party today. Then we went to have lunch with Stevie K."Kolega", he also got home from pre-school at 11:40A.M. Lily played right along with the others like she was a big girl. After a loooong lunch time at the McDonald's Playland, we went to drop Stevie back home. Koy was working from home today, as he does every Thursday, since Suzia has student observation classes to do on this day. I decided to stay at Suzia & Koy's home and have a Valentines Dinner Celebration. Stefan and Steve would come after work to join us there. The only one missing was Karen, she was still at work and would be home by 8pm. Ela was showing off her brand new hair cut. She has grown up overnight into a teenager. All six of our grandchildren were around so a few pictures was taken. This was the BEST Valentines present ever.

See all the hearts on this dress.?
Hey which way did they go Babcia?

Miss Ela in her glasses and her new hair cut.

SNOWSCULPTURES Feb 8,9,10,2008

Did you get a chance to go the the Randhurst Shopping Mall area to see these? I went with my neighbor Basia to get a closer look at these, and wow great job. It was only for this past weekend. They are still standing, but who knows for how long with the weather they will last.
Some are done by high school kids and even younger. The Polar Bear was 10-12 feet tall. Amazing work they did. ENJOY.

KALAHARI Monday Feb 11, 2008

Hey guess where I was on Monday evening???? Yes I was at the Kalahari Waterpark Resort, well at least I was in the lobby for all of 15 minutes.
Remember I told you that Suzia and family went to spend a few days to relax and enjoy themselves. Well they DID.

But on the day that they were to leave, Koy went to start the truck and guess what? It would not start, after several more attempts to "see" what was the problem. Koy got no further than,... stone cold truck...no starting this baby up. So I volunteered to help out. Yep, I drove to the Dells Monday afternoon to go get them home. We returned home in time for the news that evening. The truck stayed behind for further help that is needed in getting it going. That will have to take place this coming weekend. The last picture shows that they are happy to see me?.. of course they are...Well Babcia got them some Webkins at the gift shop while she was there VISITING.

Oh you thought that they maybe bought a NEW motorcycle?... Well that remains to be seen this summer. Will let you know if Stefan trades in his Honda for a newer model and make.........for now he keeps his Honda started a few minutes every other day just to make sure it is still running. You know this cold weather will do a number on anybody and anything. He is just waiting for his summer weekend runs to begin again with friends.

Hey how is Diane doing? Feb 2008.

Guess who is going to have fun this weekend ????Feb 9-10-11

Koy and the kids will drive up to Wisconsn Dells and pick up Suzia on the way. Then they plan on spending some time at a Water Park/Hotel in the Dells till Monday evening. The kids actually will have a day off of school next Monday....but.... Hey all 3 of them are really good "A" students in school, so why not let them go along on this quick trip. As of this time the Kids, Ela, Julia and Stevie have no idea where or when they will be leaving to go to the Dells. (Mama Suzia packed their stuff and put it in the truck for Koy to take along) When they leave on Sunday morning they will not be told till they get there. What a nice surprise for the family to enjoy themselves at that water park. I am sure we will get plenty of pictures from Suzia when they return. Gee I like those kind of surpirse don't you?

P.S. The name of the waterpark is The Kahlahari Water Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Temps on Sunday evening are wind chill -26. Just in case you wanted to know .

Catching the AMTRAK Feb 8, 2008

Suzia left town by Amtrak Train for a few days to go and visit her friend Renee and her family that lives near Madison. Renee has 4 children I drove her to the train station with Stevie. We said our goodbyes and then we left to go do some errands before his daddy (Koy) came and picked him up from our house.

Look closely at the third picture, can you see me and Stevie reflected in the window waving goodbye to Suzia inside the train? Neat huh.

We went to the Super Bowl Party on Sunday at our friends house in Elgin. The weather turned on us, it was snowing when we got there and then it had snowed 4 inches when we got out of the house to go home.

Marysia had put on a very nice spread of snacks and dinner for us all. Danek & Marysia entertained us all in their house. The game was turning around and around the last few minutes. As we all know by now who won. The New York Giants won.

THANKS for the PARTY Danek & Marysia

ELA's Ski Trip Cancelled--Snow Shoveling at Babcia

Well snow is good for skiing, but when it snowed sooo much that the schools were closed, well that is not so good. Ela was looking forward to going to her ski trip, then on Thursday evening it started snowing and snowing. By the evening it had already snowed 6 inches. By FRIDAY morning it had snowed from 8-12 inches in OUR area. The schools were closed for the day. The ski trip will be re-scheduled. (Good to know). For now it was a fun day to BE home for the day.
And you thought the slide was to be used only in warm weather, Maddie enjoys herself even in the snow, going downhill.

IT'S SNOWING ..........IT'S SNOWING...................

THURSDAY evening it took Steve an hour 45 min to get to our house to pick up the kids. So when he did arrive, I bundled Maddie & Stevie in their snow suits and out they went for a roll in the snow. Stevie helped with the shoveling and Maddie made some terrific snowballs
It took Stefan almost the same amount of time as it did Steve to get home. Little Lily I did not send out in the cold, she watched as her sister Maddie threw snowballs at the door . I heard on the news that it took people 3 hours to drive to O'Hare from Downtown.
Steve helped us dig out with the snowblower.
