Family Vacation- Diane's June 24, 2011.

Diane and most of her family are together in Florida. The weather is Ok, I understand, a few sprinkles Diane said, but nothing major. They all are spending time in Disney's Vero Beach Resort. I hope that they make a lot of memories to last a lifetime. Spending time with the family is the most rewarding thing to do together, my opinion of course. Looking forward to seeing pictures of THIS vacation.

Well we got our power BACK on Finally 6-23,2011 7- PM

On Tuesday evening it started getting dark and gloomy and very windy. By 9PM the wind gusts were at 80 mph (we found that out later). Our park swing outdoor benches were turned over and flopped around on our driveway. Stefan had said let's go to the basement, THIS was powerful We did and then came back upstairs to find those benches moved around. The many branches on our driveway were all over. As we looked around, the air smelled smokey. Looked around and found out that a few power lines around the traintracks by our house were down. We took a walk to "see". Those power lines were sparking so bright as if the sun was shining down on the brightest day ever.
Our power was out till Thursday evening till 8pm. To be without power is weird. You depend so much on that power that you can't do THIS or you can't do THAT. Mostly the food in the fridge and our sump pump had us worried. I had bought a few bags of ice to put in the fridge to keep it cold in there. By Wednesday our neighbors Basia and Pete had "found" a generator to buy and use. They let us use one outlet for our sump pump and fridge. You would think that with no power I would get to bed earlier??? No way, I was up every hour just checking on the sump pump anyways. It would drizzle on and off and then it did rain during the day on Wednesday and Thursday also. I was watching Maddie, Stevie and Lily and also had Julia and Stevie on Thursday to be with me. The weather channels did finally report that there was a Tornado F-1 in our neighborhood that touched down. Down the block from us a huge tree did get uprooted and it leaned against their house. Many, many branches and limbs were on the ground. On Thursday the temps dropped down to the low 70's. Thank goodness it was not hot.

HAPPY FATHER's Day to all of the DADS 2011

All of those fathers out there, hope that you are celebrating this special day with family.
Memories of my dad,...... yes we celebrated in a way, but not like they celebrate nowadays. My dad got a card from us kids and he got an extra dessert at dinner sometimes. Later on when we were teens he got a tie or a VO bottle or a carton of cigarettes. (Yes we added to their addictions).

Celebrations with the dads of today are different. I am grateful for my husband being there for our kids, their popsie. My son for his kids and my son in law for his kids. Each in their own way is very special and important to the family. A family consists of moms and dads and the kids together. Thru good and bad times families that stick together make many memories to last a lifetime with love.

North ave Beach Friday June 17, 2011 AND ETC. ....

I went with Ela, Julia and Stevie to North ave Beach and then we stopped for awhile at the Lincoln Park Zoo. The beach did not look the same as when I was a teen, but times change. The boathouse is still there with many new additions around it. There were quiet a few volleyball courts set up, there is an upper deck restaurant on the boathouse. You can rent bicycles, deck chairs, umbrellas and towels for a fee of course. The bridge for the underpass is still there across Lakeshore Drive. Remember going over it after you took the North ave bus and then the underpass? My mom would always like to sit by a tree with shade as we ran to the water and back many times. She would have drinks and snacks and sandwiches for us. She would have dragged and carried all this on the BUS from home. Imagine doing that today. I know there are people that still do it, but.....

After we got back home from our excursion down memory lane......I made dinner at Suzia's house while Koy was cutting his grass. Got dinner started then Suzia got home from work. I left the "keep an eye on this cooking" for her and went to get Maddie, Stevie and Lily to join us for dinner. Since Karen and Stef were working they were at their Grandma Dee's house for the daytime. Stefan came there after work. (Stef and Karen had a Billiards Tournament that evening at 7pm in Darien.) After dinner cleanup we went to watch Julia's softball game ( not baseball, I was told). Evening was long and warm, I left to go back to my house with Maddie, Stevie and Lily. Got them into the tub and Pj and in bed by 9:30PM. They were spending the night and would be picked up in morning by Karen.

Just a note ....It is so nice when we get to see all the kids and grandkids on the same day. Will be seeing them all on Sunday for Father's Day Brunch at our house.

Lily's Gymnastics class finishes

Will this Lily be an Olympic Star someday??? I sure had fun watching her in this class. She would try everything at least once. She loves this class.

Ela's Celebrations-2011 May -June

Ela had made her Confirmation this May, then celebrated her 14th Birthday. Along comes her Graduation from 8th grade. Can we pack anymore into this month? This young lady is ready for High School, but is Babcia and Dziadzia ready for a High Schooler?????

Having Fun Summer 2011 So far.....

Birthday Celebrations for us in May

The month of May gives us plenty of opportunities to celebrate LIFE. We have a lot of Birthdays in May, Steve our son, Stefan, My mom, my Birthday, Ela's Birthday, Our Anniversary, it also was my father in laws Birthday on the 5th. So now this year we added, Ela's Confirmation and her 8th grade Graduation, with HIGH HONORS.

Stevie M. in the E.R...... May 2011

This all took place after Mother's Day.

Stevie was not too quick in recuperating from his stomach illness, so mama had to take him to the Emergency Room to get him hydrated. He was just not keep anything down or in his stomach, so he had to get fluids into him. In the ER Stevie did not even care if they put the IV needles into him, he was so much out of giving a hoot anymore. He lost 6-7 pounds and on HIM that is a lot. But like all kids he bounced back and is back on the road to having fun again.

GOING to the Circus May 2011

We went to the Sears Center to see the Circus. Only Maddie was missing due to sickness and Ela was on her retreat for the Confirmation . We spend the evening having fun. Our seats were close to the ringsides, so we could see everything up close. Of course elephants pooping was the highlight for the boys.
The High wire motorcycle rides and the motorcycle rides inside the circle of fear were exciting also.
The high wire acts and the clowns were fun to see.

Lily Pre-school Graduation 2011

Lily has finished her first year of Pre-school in May, now she will have one more year in pre-school and then on to Kindergarden. Lily's teachers were Miss Karima and Mr. Jason.
Stevie Graduated from Pre-School but he had missed his special Graduation day due to stomach illness problems. Stevie will be going into Kindergarden come September.
