By the time you all read this Stefan and myself will be on the road towards Florida. We decided kind of last minute to get away from this COLD and go for some heat in Florida. We decided to drive,.. as tickets were hard to come by at such a late date to fly. We plan to drive half way and stop for the night and then continue on the next day. We will probably be stopping at Janette & Paul's our nieces house in Orlando especially to see Peyton and then off to my sister Barbara's place near Miami again. We had a great time in July when we visited her and Teddy back then and the price is right.($0.00)for sleeping accomodations. No hotels needed and we have a private pool to ourselves. We will be returning next year.
Well it will be next year by Friday, Jan 2, 2009. Can you believe that it will be 2009 already. Where do the years GOOOOOOO....???????

Julia will be Mother Mary 12-21-08

Julia has the part of playing Mother Mary to Baby Jesus in the church Christmas play this year. Ela has had the part in previous years. We are planning on going to church service that day at their church.

Making cookies 12-14-08 with MSL

While Maddie, Stevie & Lily were over we made cookies. Or at least we attempted to make them. We had a lot of fun making and eating them also. Lily ate more than she made, but we all did that today. Getting those sprinkles just right.

Babcia I think the blender is making a funny noise.

Lily decided she needed more sprinkles on her cookies.

TA DAH ! ! I finished my side.

This dough is sticking to my rolling pin.

Lets see if I can make a dent in this lump of dough.

I am ready to take the cookies out of the oven, oh no, Babcia says that is her job NOT mine.

SNOWMAN in the making 12-18-08

Thursday is my day to watch Maddie, Stevie & Lily. After we had breakfast at their house we packed up and came to Babcia's house for the day.

The snow from the other day was still fresh and white to make something out of it. So a SNOWMAN was decided on and we got dressed in our layers and layers. I also dropped a heating pack in their boots and one in each of their gloves. At Babcia's there is always a reserve supply of boots, hats and gloves to choose from different sizes, especially when she has six grandkids that come over often.

After a half hour our cheeks were nice and pink and cold and time to go home and take a well deserved nap.(For Babcia mainly).

3 Years ago today.....

Seems like yesterday, but 3 years ago tonight Stefan and I went to NWMem Hospital for blood units. He thought he would go right home, but he was held overnight in an observation unit and there were no beds for me to sleep on, so I spent the night on the couch in the visitors lounge area. He needed 2 units of platelets and he thought they would do the harvesting, but NO.

Just a quick thought from me, hey you all stay healthy and happy.

MORE TROUBLE FOR SUZIA

Suzia does not have a lot of luck in cars lately. She got rear ended in the Honda Civic, going to Ela's concert on Wednesday. The car had slid into her on the street at a stoplight. So she called dziadzia who was still at her house to come and finish dropping of Ela at school for the concert, while she and Koy exchanged information of the accident, I was out with Julia. I did not find this out till Suzia & Koy came to the concert. All are OK, but a little minor damage to the car.

On Wednesday I picked up Julia from school and we went to get her nails DONE. I promised we would DO something together since I did not come over on her REAL birthday DAY. We did sing for her after midnight at the Christmas Party, BUT that is not the same as coming over for HER REAL birthday day cake. I was too pooped and still recuperating from the party. SOOOOOOOO

Julia had a manicure done as I promised at the Beauty School and then we went out to eat one of her favorites things for dinner RIBS. Dziadzia joined us at the restaurant and then he went over to Suzia's house before Ela's concert. I went with Julia more shopping for Christmas presents that she and I still needed to get for family.

Ela's Christmas Concert Wed 12-17-08

We went to Ela's Christmas Concert on Wednesday evening. It is amazing what these kids learned in such a short time. The sounds were beautiful. Too bad I could not see Ela from my seat, I only could see her hands on the clarinet behind the music stand. Dziadzia was there also as were her sister Julia and her brother Stevie. Mom and Dad are there for every concert.



Ela is is the middle right in front of that folding chair held up.

Christmas Rush is ON

Every year I say to myself, Hey Self, you have a lot of time still before Wigilia. And then it happens, the time has run out. I am already behind with stuff to do before Wigilia.

How about you, are done with all the STUFF that you want to get done before Christmas Day?

The cooking, the entertaining, the cleaning, the wrapping of gifts, the buying of gifts, the cards that have to be mailed out, WOW I could go on for another two paragraphs and still not be done.

Anyways this the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la..............................

Thursday watching MSL Slippery driveway

Maddie, Stevie & Lily is who I am with on Thursdays. Stef & Karen work and this is one of my days' to be with them. Maddie and Stevie both go to pre-school, one in the morning and the other one in the afternoon. Dinner is usually at Stef's house so Maddie gets to help me whether I am at their house or my house. Maddie gets to help cut the ends of the string beans very carefully. Since dziadzia loves string beans just as much as she does, she wants them to be perfect for dinner when he comes over tonight. All three love to help out in the kitchen as well as setting the table. Thank goodness for Corelle dishes.

This morning was very icy and I just happened to slip while getting the kids ready to go into the van. I did bonk my head when I fell on the driveway and I think I will have a little bruise on my butt. But hey this is winter.

Richie's Right FOOT as of Dec 11,2008

Yes that is Richie's F. x-ray of his right foot.

Here it is, an x-ray of my foot. A side view showing joints are OK and a bottom view showing the fracture. Except for a small bone chip on the side, everything is still well aligned so no cast or surgery is needed. Got to stay off of it for another 4-weeks to make sure I don't misalign the fracture. I guess I'll be spending Christmas also with one foot in the air. Back to see the doc on January 8th.

Christmas Choir Program-Ela better-Suzia Test

Julia's school did a few numbers from The Nutcracker Suite. They sang beautifully. I thought it was going to be a play but it was the choir singing only. There was an open house for the parents and family to see what the kids have done in school so far this year. Julia felt better to go to school by Wednesday, but Ela stayed home. Ela did feel better by evening to go to Julia's program.

Stefan came after work to Suzia & Koy's house. We had dinner at Suzia's house, but minus Suzia. She was writing 2 essays for her final test for this semester at school. She had to be there by 6pm and missed Julia's prorgram. Such is life.

But I know that her daddy (Koy) made her some rosul and some tea and she will be feeling better than ever soon.

Our Annual Christmas Party

I am thankful for the time that we enjoyed last night with our close friends and family. It was a terrific party. If I do say so myself,being that the last people to leave (Diane & Bruno) didn't leave till 2AM. I will post some pictures of the event when I can co-ordinate all the pictures taken by people last night.
We had new members join us this year, Karen's parents Dee & Ken. The crowd was dressed all in different shades of red tops, although a little proding was needed with some (Mollie). But all's well that ends well.
The variety of snacks and goodies brought to this house was amazing. The food that was shared by friends was delicious and was consumed with great gusto. The turkey did not fare long on the platter, he dissappeared very quickly. It took longer (all of 71 minutes) to deep-fry him (Koy did the work) then to eat him. The desserts were plentiful and colorful and a finger linkin' good.
Our photographer for the evening was Suzia, she must have taken over 100 pictures I am sure. Can't wait to see them all and post a LOT.
The singing was on pitch this year as we practiced all year round with our voices.
Everybody remembered ALL the words to the Christmas Carols that we sang, like the words to the 12 Days of Christmas. The bells got another workout this year, being used almost for every carol, except the lullabyes.
The reindeer paraded around the house in their glory with their antlers, led by the birthday girl Julia as Rudolph.
Santa made his usual appearance to the joy of the children present. Some were not so trusting of the "old soul", like Lily and Little Stevie M. but made their way to get their gift from dear "Old Santa".(Thanks Pete R. ) I even got to sit on his lap, (sorry for giving you a sore knee for that). Maddie and Stevie K. were sorry that they were not able to get to see the reindeers on the housetop.
Sorry to the folks who were not feeling well enough to come this year, hoping that you feel better soon. Like Richie, Basia, Maciek, Halina and Andy. Stay healthy and take care of yourselves. Thank you to the ones that did come even though you were not feeling the greatest.
Bruno was doing great hopping on his crutches, this makes week one of 6 to go.
