A mini vacation with my Mom,Zosia & Daughtr Suzia-Aug 10-11

***********

A 3 generation mini-vacation with my mom, Babcia Zosia and Suzia. We went towards Starved Rock Area again. (Like I did in May with my mom alone)Driving time took us almost 2 hours to get there.
We stopped at the Starved Rock Stables to go horseback riding. Yes my mom at 82 wanted to do that and we did, also on a day that the temperature read at 100 degrees there.
We climbed canyons and stairs. At one canyon we decided to count just the stairs that we would climb and the total came to be 504 stairs. That is not including the steps that we did on the platforms and trails to get to the bottom of the waterfalls.
We saw all the wood carvings that surround the Starved Rock Lodge area. If a tree is hit by lightning on the property that tree will get a carving into what is left of the tree.
We had lunch at the Starved Rock Lodge, walked the canyons and saw the Dams in the area. My mom even got to pose next to a Harley, (my brother has one and she thinks they are cool)
We even got to see a sunflower with leaves the size of an extra large Pizza.
We took a Trolley/Boat combination tour of the Cliff and Canyon area and the Dams and Locks.
We visited Ronald Reagans boyhood home, went to a cornfest in Mendota, Ill.
Star gazed in the evenings, walked around at the Cornfest and listended to Concerts in the Park.
Stopped by a little Church that was visible from the road, beautiful inside also.
Walked around cornfields, climbed rolled up haystacks and walk thru soybean fields
.

We went to visit and old Mansion, the Hegeler-Carus Mansion in LaSalle, Illinois, that is in the process of being restored. A family with 10 children lived there, and WOW what a mansion it was back then and still is now.
Worth to go see again in a few years.

Hoping to do this again soon with just the 3 of us, we had a really good time bonding.
