Seeing the Mississippi River

We saw the mighty "Miss" from both sides of the river. From the Illinois side and then we crossed over and saw it from the Iowa side. Going out towards there I took Route 64 (North ave for me). We hit some towns and stopped to see the sights. Historical markers etc. you know the kind of look and see signs. Well we took time to really look and see the sights. We ended up in Savanna, Ill. What a beautiful little town(?) I think it was a town or village, not sure. Anyways we stopped to see Eagle Point Park . This is where we found this little castle tower. We climbed over 50 steps to get to the top. Great view from there. This was the day the temperature reached 93 degrees. A record for the heat on this day in May.

We continued on to the Mississippi River, got to the Miss Belle boat. We went on board, only to find out that it was not launching today, due to high winds or choppy waters. But we did play a few dollars and I mean total of $5-7 on the slot machines. My mom does not like Casinos. We were going to see the sights on the boat from the deck on top. So we ended up just walking the boat decks anyways.
