Bowl-A-Thon 2-15-2010

My friend Debbie's son died of Neuro-blastoma, a cancer of the brain. So every year Debbie & Joe have a Bowl- a- thon in his honor to raise money for this cause. I have been going to this for 4 years now. He died when he was 7 years old. Joey Sykes was a fun boy to be around. So in his honor we have fun also.

This year Ela, her friend Mia, Julia and Stevie went to this Bowl a thon with me. (Last year Suzia, Karen and Tammy & Ashley joined us). It was in Arlington Heights, at Beverly Lanes. About 15-16 lanes are used for this occasion. There are raffle prizes to be won. Which Debbie and Joe have received from various places of business. The money ALL of it goes to cure this Neuro-blastoma. We had a lot of fun bowling today.

Ice Sculptures 2-13-2010

We drove to Downtown Downers Grove for the Ice Festival on the streets. Ela, Julia and Stevie had a lot of fun finding the ice pieces on the streets. We saw 18 of the 20 sculptures.

Garfield Park Conservatory 2-13-2010

I went with Ela, Julia & Stevie to see some kid friendly crafts and plants at the conservatory. They were doing a special for Valentines weekend.. They were showing us where the seeds come for, Vanilla Beans, Cocconut plants, Sugar canes, Coffee Beans, Cocoa pods, Ginger etc.

STO LAT Stevie in Detroit 2-9-2010

Happy Birthday to you Stevie in Detroit. My nephew is ??? do I dare say how old, that would make me SEEM OLD also. Well anyways have a wonderful Birthday Stevie.

Wishing for warmer weather

GrandKids wanted to do "warm things". So of course having a luau dinner was fine with us. We planned for this dinner and the kids made decorations. The evening finally came and the party was a lot of fun.
As you can see Babcia even had two water pools out for the kids to use inside next to the fireplace. Where else would you put one inside, this kept the kids warm when they got out of the pool.
The Limbo contest was a lot of fun and back breaking for us "older ones". Dancing the Hula was more up my alley. The temperature in the house reached a high of 78 degrees. It was so balmy that we had the fans going to get the effect of an island breeze.
Koy had made the island tropical drinks to keep "cool".
We celebrated Babcia Stella's 78th Birthday at our house. (Dana's mom)
