Update on Daniel SUNDAY 9-7-08

As of Sunday he is still in a regular room. He was moved on Friday there. He is still complaining that he cannot eat or drink anything. He said that it will not stay down. I talked to the doctors they think maybe?? there is some kind of blockage, but they will test for it. He also is not drinking anything and they told me that he will get dehydrated. He has to force himself to eat and drink because the pills they give him for the pain give him an upset stomach also. His pain is much more tolerable today. He is off the morphine that they were giving him. They also started therapy on his hip and leg. He is able to sort of sit up in his bed, the stitches are in his left buttocks from the surgery on the hip and pelvis. Also the pin that they put in his left knee is repaired now. So healing will be a major thing now for him. He is complaing and very crabby, but that is expected from a person that HAD to quit smoking instantly and drinking coffee for a few days. He has not had any coffee either or his usual snacks that he loves.
I hope that he does not go back to smoking, but that this will be a start for him.
Karen has been able to see him at least 3 times when she is at work, she would take her breaks and go check up on him. So that is comforting to me that Karen works at Loyola.
Today Sunday, I am off to take my mom again to go and visit Daniel.
Stefan is out on a quick trip with his brother Bruno and some other guys at Starved Rock and they should return by 2pm.
