On Monday, Columbus Day, Ela, Julia & Stevie had the day off of school. So I decided to take them and Maddie also to the
Medieval Times Castle in Schaumburg. What a treat they had. They enjoyed it as much as I did watching them enjoying themselves. Of course we dressed for the part of going to a castle.
Ela was a maiden,
Julia a Wizard,
Stevie a Knight, and
Maddie also sort of a Knight, but no shining armors were worn. (Too cumbersome to eat with). Babcia wore something purple and long. We were greeted by the king with,
"Good Day your Lordship and Ladies, Thank you for dressing for the occasion for dining with us" That made the kids feel welcome right there. Then when we entered the arena, their eyes just got soooo big they couldn't believe we were going to see live people and animals in there acting. Well they did not think it was acting, they thought it was the REAL thing. They enjoyed the food that we had served and that it was to be eaten with
NO utensils. That was fun. The soup we were told was Dragon Soup, which had garlic bread to be dipped in the soup to eat. Stevie & Maddie were having
sword fights first in their chairs then behind our chairs. I moved them in back because we already had one sword fight that ended in spilling our drinks in our laps. There were a lot of empty seats. So we did not block anybody's view by standing up and watching. The best thing was that OUR Knight won for the day. We were in the Red & Yellow section and we did root very loud for our Knight to win. They ride the horses beautifully. The jousting was a thrill to watch, as they come closer and closer to knock the other Knight off of his horse. I am sure they must rehearse the scenes daily, to get it right. Maddie was thrown a flower by the Knight because this was her birthday celebration also. (P.S. her birthday will be on Oct 22, 2007, she will be 4 years old.) The afternoon came to quickly, after the show we got the opportunity to get autographs from our Knight. The first words Maddie said were, Babcia I had a lot of fun, let's go inside and do it again.
A very exciting place to be a princess, maybe next time the costume will be that a Princess. For now we have a lot of memories about this castle.
