ELA returns from CAMP Sat
Here are some pictures of Ela at camp...
This is Ela on her bed. She picked the top bunk.
This is Ela wearing the camp T-shirts. The theme this year was "GO ALL OUT" - the counselors were "coaches" and their cabin was their "team locker room!"
This is Ela with her counselor -- ooops, sorry -- "coach" Julie!
This is a group picture of all the girls in Ela's cabin, taken at night. Ela is second from the right in the middle row, wearing her navy sweatshirt. Behind Ela is her counselor, Julie.

Happy Fathers Day to all the GUYS on Sunday
We are starting the day out by going out to have breakfast all 12 of us at Maxfields in Lombard.
Then as the day progresses, Suzia and Koy will be driving Ela to her summer camp in Lake Geneva. Julia will be going next week for her turn. Stevie will just have to wait till he gets older to do those things that his sisters will be doing this summer.
FRIDAY FUN DAY

Stevie with the water gun
Well this friday it sure turned out to be fun day. We went to the sprinkler/water park by Suzia's house. First we had a picnic lunch, then we went to the park. Had a fun time with all those water gadgets and in the sand, swings. etc. Koy worked from home this morning till the power went out at around 12:30 pm. So he spent the day with us.
Dinner was Taco's at the Koivuns, (Karen had her MVP tournament (Billiards)in her division tonight, Steve went along for moral support). After Taco's there was a major water fight in the backyard. All got soaking wet. All kinds of water devices were used, from water guns to hoses and cups. By late evening all were tired, I took Maddie, Stevie and Lily to our house for the night. Stef will pick up in morning. Karen goes to work.
Koy giving Ela a full blast of water.
Lily enjoying a lap from Ciocia Suzia.
So how did you spend these hot days this week?

Welcome back to the USA
North Ave. Beach and MORE.....
I went to the Lakefront with 3 of my grandkids on Wednesday. In the early part of the afternoon I spent together with Suzia and her 3 kids at the Navy Pier complex. Went on the BIG Ferris wheel. Finally for the first time since it has been there. (I watched it go round and round when I spent the nights with Stefan in the Hospital from our window.) Ela and Julia caught a big horsefly, shocking green in color about 5 inches long. I was told the lifespan of this bug is about 72 hours. (tidbit of info I thought you could use). Walked the pier itself, saw some of stores that are in this complex now. Bought some stuff. Went to the MAZE that is there. (Well I did not go, Suzia went with the kids). What a change since the times WE USED to go there in the late 60's. Dance programs, International Fairs etc. Suzia had to catch a train to back home to work, I stayed for the evening with Ela, Julia and Stevie.
After we dropped of Suzia we drove to the Lincoln Park Zoo. Stayed for a little over an hour to visit. They close grounds at 6pm. Then we walked across the BIG bridge that was at the end of the parking lot that would get you to North Ave. Beach. Another big surprise. There were about 30 VolleyBall courts set up in the sand, where I used to sit. The boat house has some updates to it. Like a deck on top for eating and sitting and LOOKING at people. The concession stands and the bathrooms/changing stalls are about the same place but in better condition than I remember them. We walked down to the end of the pier that is at North Ave. Beach. The water was somewhat warm, cause of all the hot days that we have been having lately. We took some pictures, made sand moats, jumped the waves, did handstands, ate hot dogs and left around 8P.M. to go home. This was a fun filled evening for us all. Till next time for more nostalgic events I plan on doing with my grandkids.
